Standard Embroidery Pricing

Embroidery on Letterman’s Jacket

Have you gone into an embroidery shop and asked for a quote of embroidery on a letterman’s jacket?  Then you were told a price that was unbelievable?  Why is embroidery so expensive?  Embroidery prices are based on the number of stitches in the embroidery pattern.  The more layers needed, the type of stitching utilized, a pattern on the stitching is a reason that would increases the number of stitches in your embroidery pattern.  The standard price range for embroidery is from $.20 to $1 per 1000 stitches.  These prices can range because of what product is being embroidered on, or the number of colors used in the design.  Well, I just experienced some ladies paying $20 for a name of a team to be put on their lettermans jacket.  When I completed the same jacket, the number of stitches utilized for this jacket was 9000 stitches which tells us that the pricing for this should be a maximum of $9.  Who would know this pricing is too much?  So I am going to help create a gauge for individuals so they do not have to pay too much to have their embroidery completed.  The letters in “PETERSEN” with the height of 2 inches and with one layer of stitching is 4500 stitches.  Double layer would be 9000.  Hopefully, this will help a guage point of pricing.  If you ever have any question of numbers of stitches in a pattern, just send me the file and I will give you an estimate so you will not be overcharged.  An of course if you need anything embroidered, I usually am more reasonable in my pricing.  I charged $6 for the name to be applied to this jacket for a 9000 stitch pattern.  Give me a hollar at http://sewingquiltingandembroidery.com/Contact.html.

Patches Applied to Fireproof Racing Gear

Patching up a Racing Fireproof Suit
Patching up a Racing Fireproof Suit

Many times it is difficult to apply and sew patches in some hard to reach places on apparel.  Take for instance, in the photo shown, patches applied to sleeves.  As the patches are being applied down the sleeves, it is more difficult to apply and sew the patches in a narrower area to sew.  This is good when you have a sewing machine with a narrow base to be able to slip up the narrow area onto the machine base to sew thru the patch.  The next step is to lower your feed dogs on the machine.  This will give some flexibility to be able to sew all around the patch instead of straight line forward to back.   Another important step is to make sure your needle is for heavy fabric sewing.   A good size such as 100/16 is recommended.  Sew your stitches very slowly so when moving the fabric to stitch the edge of the patch, you don’t bend the needle to cause a needle break.   Some people apply a glue before sewing on the patch.  This holds the patch in place.  Others use pins to hold the patch in place.  This process can be used for any arm or leg areas on clothing items.  Letterman’s jackets are a good example.  You will find if you have a patch applied, it can easily be charged $10 to have it applied with specialized equipment.  If you apply the principles above, you can do this for the cost of the wear and tear on your machine and the cost of the thread and needle.  For customers that do not have the equipment, FotoQuilts.com does this service for you at half price of the normal charging in the market today.  Patches of normal size for lettermans jackets and fireproof racing gear are only $5 to apply.  This is standard pricing from our company and we will always only charge 50% of the normal pricing in the market.  Feel free to contact us at  http://sewingquiltingandembroidery.com/Contact.html for any other quotes.  We are here to help you thru your issues and needs at a reduced price.  Our commitment is to help and serve you.  I want to thank Blake, a fantastic racer for sending this picture so I can write about patching up his firesuit.

Create Embroidered Visors all from a Hoop

Embroidered Visors Created from a Hoop
Embroidered Visors Created from a Hoop

As you can see with some of my previous posts, there is much that can be done with an embroidery hoop.  In this photo, these visors were all created in a hoop with curly shoestrings connected to the visor.  Making these visors are similar to making patches in a hoop.  Just need to add a couple more steps and some additional materials and you will have your visor.   This project utilizes  spray adhesive, dissolvable or tearaway stabilizer, heavy interfacing or stabilizer, your favorite fabric and thread colors.  When creating your visor, you can design any shape of visor like waves, ruffles, straight, protruded (golf style), etc.  These shapes can be drawn in your digitizer program.  You would use this program similar to making a patch, but an added heavy interfacing is inserted during the embroidery process to create a firm brim on the visor.  Different variations can also include different fabrics, added embroidery designs and also some added crystals with that extra bling.  In the photo, one is purple with metallic yellow flowers with some added purple crystals glued on the edge.  Another is more of a western fabric used with brown and yellow crystals.  The third one is an added embroidery design to match the fabric selected with some read crystals.  Lots of opportunities can be put together for a fun visor to wear.  These custom visors can be ordered for only $10 or if you need just a digitized design rim made for your embroidery machine, the price is $5 for your special design.  Feel free to contact me thru the official FotoQuilt.com website by utilizing this address of www.SewingQuiltingandEmbroidery.com.

Have you tried Texturing Fabric? How about Tote Bag?

Embroidered Textured Tote Bag
Embroidered Textured Tote Bag

Texturing fabric is so much fun.  You can watch the fabric you choose shrink into texture right before your eyes with a steam iron.  Not only is is fun to texture fabric, but this gives the fabric more durability and stability to make totebags, purses, notebook covers, e-notebook covers, etc.  The texturing process actually shrinks it by 30% in all directions.  The lower part of the pictured tote is an example of what the textured fabric can look like.  I purchased a product called Texture Magic.  The step by step instructions are in this product.  The product is pinned to the fabric, then sewing of lines thru the fabric and the texture magic is completed.  You can sew lines of shapes, squares, triangles, etc.  I used the easy squared lines with the pictured tote.  The sewed lines stick to together thru the shrinking process.  Whatever is not sewn, there is a puff look of texture after the shrinking process.  It is very simple to shrink with the Texture Magic by waving a steam iron over the sewn product and watch it shrink before your eyes.  You have to try it!  I used it and made a simple tote bag.  Since I love to embroider and live in cowboy country, I added a horse with horseshoe on a batik durable fabric to bring in a nice contrast to the tote bag.  If you have some interest in a specific type of tote, purse, kindle cover, notebook cover, etc,  just send a note to www.SewingQuiltingandEmbroidery.com.  We can create a product at a great price for you.  By the way, the texturing of fabric is washable!

A Twist to Applique Towel Embroidery

Applique Towel Embroidery
Applique Towel Embroidery

Many people love decorated towels for their bathrooms and kitchens.  It adds additional decoration that a plain towel cannot accommodate.  Many have seen towels embroidered with decoration or monogramed with initials.  Why not try applique?  Appliques can be applied in different shapes and colors.  Colors selected can coordinate with the towel color or bring out a contrasting color in your room.  Shapes can be anything you would like.  Sillouettes can be creative shapes that can be used and embroidered over.  The pictured towel is an applique utilized in a simple oval shape to help bring out the name identified in a good contrasting color thread.  The fabric utilized is a batik that has a tinge of red and turquoise to blend the towel and the embroidery color together.  To apply an applique, it is similar to the patch creation identified previously in another blog post.  The difference is you will not be trimming the towel, just the under and over fabric.  See previous blog for step by step instructions for applying your applique to your towel. ” Create your own Patch from your Embroidery Machine” .  Sillouettes can be created on your digitizing program.  If you need some assistance to create a sillouette for you, feel free to send a message thru the website contact page at http://sewingquiltingandembroidery.com/Contact.html.  Pricing to create a sillouette for you is only $5 by utilizing code “SILL5″  in your comments.

Scrapbook Quilt
Keepsake Scrapbook Quilt

A great lifetime heirloom of adventures, events and memories can be put into a scrapbook quilt to keep for a lifetime and to pass down to descendants.  Many love to have quilts made by their great grandmothers.  Can you imagine having a quilt of your great grandmother of many of her adventures, events and other memories in her life?  This is a priceless gift to give someone.  This pictured quilt was created for a young lady who has accomplished much in her life. It was a surprize when she returned from military commitment for the last few years.  It included 43 pictures and 22 embroidered squares of highlights in her life in her favorite color of red.  She has a great heirloom to share with her descendants.  Embroidery includes bowling, cars, dolls, christmas, birthday, birth announcement, ballet and many other events to support events pictured.  The pictures that were printed onto fabric  will last as long as the fabric lasts and will only fade like normal fabric fades.  A scrapbook quilt price is $190 for a 36 inch by 48 inch masterpiece.  If you are interested in having a heirloom Scrapbook Quilt made for someone, feel free to complete the contact information at http://sewingquiltingandembroidery.com/Contact.html with your wishes and we can make your wishes come true at an extremely reasonable rate!
